Jim Morrison belted his first major league home run to power the Phillies to a 3-1 victory over the Astros. The rookie, called up April 29 when regular second baseman Ted Sizemore suffered a broken hand, connected with Bob Boone on base in the second inning.

A bases-loaded walk gave the Phils their other run in the fifth frame. Houston's lone tally came in the fourth on Cesar Cedeno's leadoff homer. [The Sporting News]
