Rookie southpaw Rich Wortham got credit for his first major league victory as the White Sox ended a four-game losing streak with a 7-2 thumping of the Twins. The White Sox erupted for three runs in the first inning. Ralph Garr singled and scored on a double by Jorge Orta.

After Don Kessinger singled, Chet Lemon stroked a single to plate Orta. Kessinger then tallied on Lamar Johnson's infield out. Johnson hit a two-run homer in the fifth and Bill Nahorodny belted a two-run round-tripper in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
