. . . where the 1970s live forever!
The major league leader in homers, Jim Rice blasted No. 11 to trigger the Red Sox to a 5-4 victory over the Orioles. Rice's round-tripper came in the third inning with Jerry Remy aboard. The other Sox scores came in the second inning when Fred Lynn tripled and came home on Dwight Evans' sacrifice fly and in the ninth on Bernie Carbo's RBI single and an error by Oriole shortstop Kiko Garcia.

The Orioles rallied in the ninth, but Dick Drago came on to pitch out of a bases-loaded, one-out situation. The reliever got Eddie Murray on a sacrifice fly, gave up a run-scoring single to Lee May and then retired Gary Roenicke on a fly ball. Rice's home run was the 13th of his career against the Orioles and boosted his league-leading RBI total to 36. [The Sporting News]
