A two-run homer by Lee May with one out in the top of the ninth gave the Orioles a 3-2 decision over the Rangers. May drilled the ball into the left field seats after Ken Singleton singled and Eddie Murray hit into a forceout. The other Oriole run came in the seventh when Singleton walked, went to third on Murray's double and scored on a two-out single by Pat Kelly.

Oriole reliever Don Stanhouse entered the game in the bottom of the ninth with runners on second and third and nobody out and worked out of the jam to preserve the victory and earn his sixth save. [The Sporting News]
