The White Sox took advantage of Nolan Ryan's wildness to snap their four-game losing streak, downing the Angels, 9-6. A triple by Ralph Garr followed by a single by Don Kessinger gave the Sox a run in the first inning and they added another in the second on a single by Bob Molinaro, walks to Eric Soderholm and Bill Nahorodny and Garr's infield groundout.

Nahorodny and Jorge Orta hit two-run homers during a five-run eighth inning. The Angels scored five in the ninth, the key blows being a two-run single by Carney Lansford and two-run triple by Ike Hampton. [The Sporting News]
