Jason Thompson belted a two-run homer and Ron LeFlore collected four hits including a solo round-tripper, to power the Tigers to their fourth consecutive victory, 5-3, over the Brewers. LeFlore hit his circuit clout in the third inning. Thompson's blast came with two out in the seventh after LeFlore had doubled. Lance Parrish gave the Tigers insurance with a solo homer in the eighth.

Winner Jack Billingham yielded solo homers to Sixto Lezcano in the second and to Gorman Thomas in the fifth, bringing the Brewers' major league-leading total to 45. [The Sporting News]
