Bombo Rivera rapped four straight hits, capping his big night with a homer in the eighth inning for the Twins' clinching run in a 5-3 victory over the Royals. Hal McRae homered for the Royals in the first and George Brett, back in action for the first time since April 29, stroked a pair of doubles and counted the Royals' other runs for a 3-0 lead.

The Twins ralled to tie the score with the aid of an RBI single by Rivera and went ahead in the seventh when Dan Ford tripled and Jose Morales hit a sacrifice fly. Rivera's homer iced it. [The Sporting News]
