Making his second start since off-season surgery, Bill Travers pitched six innings and picked up credit for the Brewers' 6-4 victory over the Angels. In his first start May 15, Travers was kayoed in the third inning and was charged with five runs in an 8-6 loss to the Rangers.

The Brewers clinched the decision for Travers by erupting for five runs in the fifth inning. A pass to Dick Davis, single by Cecil Cooper and double by Gorman Thomas produced the first marker. After an intentional pass to Don Money, Buck Martinez hit a sacrifice fly. Paul Molitor and Robin Yount followed with RBI singles and the fifth run scored on a grounder by Sixto Lezcano.
