Tucker Ashford slashed a two-out, two-run single in the eighth inning to drive in Dave Winfield and Gene Tenace and give the Padres a 3-2 decision over the Dodgers. With one out in the eighth, Winfield singled and Tenace walked. Both runners moved up on an infield out and Ashford followed with his line single on a 3-2 pitch.

The Dodgers committed five errors, including two throwing errors by shortstop Bill Russell which gave the Padres their first run in the second inning. [The Sporting News]
