. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Posting their 19th victory in the last 25 games, the Yankees scalped the Indians, 9-3. The Yankees jumped to a 3-0 lead in their second turn at bat when they put together four hits, including an RBI double by Cliff Johnson and two-run single by Bucky Dent.

Three more runs followed in the third on singles by Mickey Rivers, Willie Randolph, Thurman Munson, Reggie Jackson and a fielder's choice grounder by Lou Piniella. Dick Tidrow evened his record at 3-3 in going the distance for the second time this season. [The Sporting News]
