With two out in the seventh inning, pinch-runner Rance Mulliniks raced home from first base on a pinch-single by Tony Solaita to bring the Angels a 6-5 victory over the Brewers. Mulliniks ran for Merv Rettenmund, who reached base on a pass.

Sal Bando hit a three-run homer in the fifth, putting the Brewers ahead, 4-3, but the Angels tied the score in their half and took the lead in the sixth when Lyman Bostock hit his first homer in a California uniform.
