In the eighth, Chiles stroked a leadoff single, advanced on a sacrifice bunt and tallied on a single by Mike Cubbage.

Zahn had runners on second and third in the first inning but did not permit a runner past second the rest of the night. Marshall took over in the ninth and preserved the shutout.
