Roy Smalley had a hand in all four of the Twins' runs and Bombo Rivera made a diving catch of a line drive with the bases loaded in the ninth inning to save a 4-2 victory over the Tigers. Smalley set up one run with a single in the first inning, walked and scored in the third and knocked in the deciding pair with a double in the fourth. Rivera made his catch on a smash by Rusty Staub.
