. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A grand-slam homer by Dusty Baker was the big blow as the Dodgers outlasted the Phillies, 6-5. The Phils carried a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning but singles by Davey Lopes, Bill North and Steve Garvey produced one run and the Dodgers loaded the bases when pitcher Jim Lonborg fumbled Ron Cey's sacrifice bunt. Baker then unloaded into the left field pavilion. The final Dodger run came in the eighth on a round-tripper by Rick Monday.

Greg Luzinski hit two homers for the Phils and Mike Schmidt another. The Phils missed a chance to tie the score in the ninth when Jim Morrison, attempting to score from third base with one out on Bake McBride's bouncer to first baseman Garvey, slid past the plate and was tagged out.
