Posting their 15th victory in the last 18 games, the Brewers downed the Orioles, 5-3. The Brewers' first run came in the opening inning when Paul Molitor singled, stole second and scored on a single by Sal Bando. They added two more in the third on a single by Don Money, double by Bando and single by Larry Hisle.

A double by Robin Yount, sacrifice by Gorman Thomas and sacrifice fly by Buck Martinez was good for another marker in the fourth, and an unearned run in the sixth built up a 5-0 lead. The Orioles kayoed Brewer starter Lary Sorensen in the eighth with five straight singles, but Bill Castro relieved and held the Orioles at bay to preserve the victory. [The Sporting News]
