The Tigers outlasted the Blue Jays, 10-8, in a free-swinging affair as Jason Thompson drove in three runs with a double and homer and Rusty Staub and Steve Kemp each drove in a pair of runs.

The Tigers trailed, 6-5, entering the sixth when Alan Trammell started a five-run inning with a homer. Lou Whitaker and Ron LeFlore stroked consecutive singles before Kemp provided the go-ahead tallies with a two-run double. Staub then added an RBI single and after two walks loaded the bases, a wild pitch by reliever Tom Murphy resulted in the fifth run. [The Sporting News]
