. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Blasting Mike Morgan off the mound in 2 1/3 innings, the Rangers rode roughshod over the A's, 8-2. The young righthander, just recently out of high school, was no puzzle to the Texans.

In the first inning, Mike Hargrove singled, Bert Campaneris walked, Bump Wills hit a triple and Richie Zisk got a single. In the third frame, Wills bunted safely and stole second. After Zisk drew a walk, the Rangers worked a double steal to set up a two-run double by Bobby Bonds. A single by Pat Putnam moved Bonds to third and he scored on an errant pickoff throw by A's catcher Jim Essian. [The Sporting News]
