A three-run homer by Bob Stinson capped a five-run first inning that carried the Mariners to an 8-3 triumph over the White Sox and their seventh victory in the last eight games. Julio Cruz and Craig Reynolds opened the Mariner first with infield singles and, after one out, Cruz scored when Leon Roberts bounced into a force play. Bruce Bochte walked and Bob Robertson hit an RBI single before Stinson followed with his circuit clout.
