. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The surging Rangers posted their seventh straight victory, beating the A's, 3-1, as Dock Ellis and Reggie Cleveland combined on a five-hitter. After a first-inning single by Mitchell Page had given the A's a 1-0 lead, the Rangers tied the game in the third on a walk to Mike Hargrove, sacrifice by Bert Campaneris and single by Bump Wills.

They went ahead in the fourth on a single by Bobby Bonds, sacrifice by Pat Putnam and single by Jim Sundberg. Wills walked in the eighth, stole second, took third on catcher Jim Essian's throwing error and scored on a sacrifice fly by Bonds. [The Sporting News]
