. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Taking over second place from the Yankees in the A. L. East, the Brewers swept a doubleheader, 5-0 and 7-2, behind the stout pitching of Mike Caldwell and Jerry Augustine. The Brewers staked Caldwell to a quick lead in the opener on a sacrifice fly by Robin Yount in the second inning and an RBI single by Sixto Lezcano in the third. Ben Oglivie hit a three-run homer in the seventh.

The Brewers also got on the board early in the nightcap, scoring twice in their first turn at bat on a double by Paul Molitor, single by Don Money and double by Dick Davis. The Yanks tied the game in the third on a two-run single by Chris Chambliss, but the Brewers broke the deadlock in the seventh. Lezcano singled, went to second on a balk and scored on a single by Sal Bando. A double by Buck Martinez drove in Bando. [The Sporting News]
