Taking over with the bases loaded in the ninth inning, Dave LaRoche struck out Mike Hargrove to save the Angels' 4-2 victory over the Rangers. Lyman Bostock drove in the Angels' first two runs with a pair of singles.

The Angels then put over the deciding pair in the eighth on a single by Ron Jackson, pass to Merv Rettenmund, single by Rick Miller and sacrifice fly by Bobby Grich.
