. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Splitting two well-pitched games, the Indians won the opener, 2-0, and the Blue Jays captured the nightcap. 3-1. In the first game, Rick Waits tossed a three hitter over 8 2/3 innings. He was relieved in the ninth after issuing two walks and Jim Kern came on to record the final out. The Indian scores came on a solo home run by Gary Alexander in the second and an RBI double by Rick Manning in the third.

Jesse Jefferson pitched a four-hitter in the nightcap. The Jays broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth when starter Dave Freisleben gave up a one-out walk to Willie Upshaw and Roy Howell greeted reliever Sid Monge with a double. The final run scored in the seventh on a pinch-double by Otto Velez. [The Sporting News]
