Don Sutton got credit for his fifth straight win as the Dodgers bested the Braves, 4-1. Dusty Baker and Joe Ferguson opened the fourth inning with consecutive doubles. Bill North got an infield hit, Sutton sacrificed and Davey Lopes capped the three-run frame with a double.

The final Dodger marker scored in the eighth on a double by Baker. Sutton's shutout bid was spoiled when Gary Matthews homered in the ninth before the Dodgers had to call on Bob Welch to save the game. [The Sporting News]
