Ron Guidry's string of 13 consecutive victories was stopped by the Brewers, who got four-hit pitching from Mike Caldwell and shut out the Yankees, 6-0. Larry Hisle doomed Guidry to defeat in the first inning, smashing a homer after a double by Don Money and a pass to Sal Bando.

The Brewers added a run in the fourth on a double by Sixto Lezcano and triple by Robin Yount. Hisle homered again in the sixth. After Bob Kammeyer took over for Guidry, Lezcano hit for the circuit to complete the Brewers' scoring. [The Sporting News]
