. . . where the 1970s live forever!
The cellar-dwelling Cardinals scored one of their infrequent victories by beating the Dodgers, 6-1, behind the five-hit pitching of John Denny. The first Cardinal run came in the second inning when Jerry Morales got a two-out infield single, reached second on a throwing error by third baseman Ron Cey and scored on a single by Ken Reitz.

The Redbirds added another in the fourth on a walk to Ted Simmons, double by George Hendrick and single by Mike Tyson. Simmons belted a two-run homer in the seventh and Jerry Mumphrey singled home the Cards' final two markers in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
