. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Coming through with his eighth pinch hit in 22 tries this season, Tony Solaita drove in a run with a bases-loaded single in the 11th inning to give the Angels a 3-2 victory over the Blue Jays. Nolan Ryan, who pitched the first nine innings for the Angels, struck out 13, marking the 110th time in his career that Ryan had fanned 10 or more in one game.

Rico Carty, who had three of the Blue Jays' six hits, singled in the second and scored on a double by Tommy Hutton. The Angels matched that run in their half with a double by Don Baylor, an infield out and a sacrifice fly by Carney Lansford. Carty put the Blue Jays ahead again with a homer in the sixth, but the Angels tied the score once more when Lyman Bostock hit for the circuit in their half. In the 11th, Ron Jackson and Baylor singled. Ken Landreaux sacrificed and Lansford drew an intentional pass to load the bases before Solaita ended the game with his pinch hit. [The Sporting News]
