. . . where the 1970s live forever!

George Scott not only hit one of the Red Sox' three homers in the game but also drove in the deciding run with a single in the eighth inning to beat the Twins, 5-4. The Red Sox opened the scoring with a run in the first inning when Carlton Fisk was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Scott and Bob Bailey homered in succession in the fourth and Carl Yastrzemski added a circuit clout in the sixth. Fisk singled in the eighth and, after Fred Lynn went out, scored from second on Scott's single.

The Twins collected 12 singles, including a pair by Rod Carew for the 2,000th and 2,001st hits of his career. [The Sporting News]
