The Braves pulled their triple play in the seventh after Greg Luzinski and Richie Hebner walked. Jose Cardenal grounded to Horner, who stepped on third to force Luzinski. Horner threw to second to force Hebner. Glenn Hubbard then whipped ball to first baseman Dale Murphy to nail Cardenal. Gene Garber, making his first appearance against his former Philadelphia teammates, pitched the last 3 1/3 innings in relief of Rick Camp and gave up the Phillies' runs in the ninth on an error, a ground-rule double by Hebner and single by Cardenal.
