Standout relief pitching by Eduardo Rodriguez enabled the Brewers to topple the Red Sox, 8-6. After spotting the Sox a three-run lead in the first frame, the Brewers bounced back with single runs in the first and third and took the lead with four runs in the fourth. A two-run single by Charlie Moore highlighted the fourth-inning rally. Moore also clouted a solo homer in the game.

Rodriguez relieved Andy Replogle with none out in the second and allowed only one run until the ninth when he was chased by a two-run single by Jim Rice. Bob McClure came on and retired Carl Yastrzemski on a fly to right to end the game with the tying runs on base. The start of the game was delayed more than two hours by rain. [The Sporting News]
