. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A bloop single by Greg Luzinski broke a 6-6 deadlock in the sixth inning as the Phillies beat the Reds, 8-6. The winning rally started when Jerry Martin smacked a one-out single. He advanced to third on a single by Larry Bowa, who took second on the throw to third. Mike Schmidt received an intentional pass to load the bases and Luzinski followed with his single into short right. The second run of the inning scored on a sacrifice fly by pinch-hitter Jose Cardenal.

The Reds' Pete Rose got an infield single in the fifth inning to extend his consecutive game hitting streak to 33. [The Sporting News]
