After spotting Atlanta a three-run lead, the Mets stormed back to trample the Braves, 12-3. A two-run triple by Lee Mazzilli highlighted a three-run fourth inning and the Mets took a 4-3 lead in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Steve Henderson.

A five-run seventh stanza broke the game open. A double by Henderson and single by Willie Montanez produced the first run of the big inning.
