The A's and Blue Jays divided a twin bill, the A's taking the first game, 7-2, and the Jays capturing the second contest, 5-4. In the opener, a sacrifice fly by Jeff Newman gave the A's a 1-0 lead in the second inning. They added three more tallies in the third frame on an error by Jay shortstop Luis Gomez, a single by Joe Wallis, triple by Taylor Duncan and single by Mitchell Page. The game was put on ice in the fifth on a single by Wallis, RBI double by Page and two-run homer by Willie Horton. After an RBI double by Mike Edwards had lifted the A's to a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning of the nightcap, the Blue Jays won the game in the seventh when Roy Howell led off with a single, took second on a single by John Mayberry and scored on a double by Al Woods.
