A pinch-single by Buddy Bell drove home the winning run as the Indians garnered a 2-1 triumph over the Royals. The score was 1-1 going into the bottom of the seventh when Rick Manning opened with a two-base hit. After reliever Steve Mingori got Johnny Grubb on a popup, Manning took third on a flyout.

Marty Pattin then replaced Mingori and was greeted by Bell's hit to left. Grubb drove in the Tribe's first run with a single in the fifth. The lone Royal tally came across on a balk by Indian starter David Clyde in the second. [The Sporting News]
