A single by Larry Milbourne with two out in the ninth inning scored pinch-runner Craig Reynolds and gave the Mariners a 6-5 victory over the Twins. A three-run homer by Leon Roberts in the first inning helped the Mariners take a 4-1 lead, but the Twins caught up at 4-4 and then tied the score again at 5-5 when Roy Smalley hit for the circuit in the ninth. In the Mariners' half, Bruce Bochte drew a walk from Mike Marshall, Reynolds ran for him and came around to score on singles by Julio Cruz and Milbourne.
