Pressed into service as a starter, Al Fitzmorris gained his first victory in nearly one year when the Angels routed the Twins, 12-3. Dave Frost, who was scheduled to start, had to be scratched because of back problems. Fitzmorris last was a winner on August 24, 1977, when the righthander was with the Indians and beat his present Angel teammates.
