The Padres extended their club record winning streak to 10 games, scoring on an error in the eighth inning to defeat the Reds, 3-2. The Padres took a 2-0 lead in the first when Paul Moskau loaded the bases with three walks and Gene Tenace singled.

A sacrifice fly by Mike Lum in the fourth and another by Pete Rose in the seventh tied the score before Tenace opened the Padres' eighth by coaxing a walk from reliever Doug Bair. Broderick Perkins then beat out a tap to the left of the mound and when Bair's throw to first hit the runner and bounded away, Tenace came home with the deciding run. [The Sporting News]
