A pinch home run by rookie Gary Gray with two out in the bottom of the ninth gave the Rangers a 3-2 decision over the Indians. After the Indians went ahead with two unearned runs in the top of the ninth, the first two Rangers were retired in the home half before Mike Hargrove singled. After Mike Jorgensen ran for Hargrove, Gray batted for Bert Campaneris and hit an 0-2 pitch off the left field foul pole.
