Unleashing an 18-hit attack, the Royals pasted the White Sox, 10-4. Seven different batters drove home a run apiece as the Royals scored four runs in the second inning and four more in the fifth frame. Hal McRae clouted a two-run homer in eighth. Marty Pattin earned a save by pitching 2 2/3 innings of shutout ball. The reliever took over with the bases loaded and one out in the seventh and induced Lamar Johnson to ground into a double play.
