Taking advantage of loose play, the Astros squeezed out a 6-5 victory over the Giants. In the Astros' first turn at bat, four hits, two errors and a balk produced four runs. A single by Bob Watson drove in another marker in the third and the Astros' final run came in the seventh as Terry Puhl scored when his fly ball was dropped by right fielder Jack Clark for a four-base error.
