Luis Tiant's bid for his 200th career victory was turned back when the Brewers knocked out the veteran righthander in the fifth inning and trounced the Red Sox, 10-5. The Brewers began their assault on Tiant with three runs in the second on a single by Robin Yount, homer by Gorman Thomas, double by Paul Molitor and single by Sal Bando.

After picking up a pair in the fifth while chasing Tiant, the Brewers iced the decision with three runs off Tom Burgmeier in the sixth. Larry Hisle batted in one run with a double and Ben Oglivie accounted for two with a single. [The Sporting News]
