. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Reaching a career-high of nine victories for the season, Milt Wilcox hurled the Tigers to an 11-2 victory over the Royals. Rusty Staub drove in his 96th run of the year, tying for the league lead.

Milt May had two RBI singles and Ron LeFlore, besides hitting a home run, stole his 54th base of the season and 23rd in a row, three short of the A.L. record. The Tigers picked up four runs in the seventh on four walks, two errors by Royal third baseman George Brett and one hit. [The Sporting News]
