After the baserunning of Frank Taveras helped the Pirates beat the Astros, 4-2, in the first game of a scheduled twi-night doubleheader, the second game was postponed because of rain. Taveras walked in the third, stole second and third and counted on an infield out by Manny Sanguillen.

Then in the seventh, Taveras singled, stole second and scored again on a single by Phil Garner. Bert Blyleven handcuffed the Astros until knocked out in the ninth. Grant Jackson retired one batter before giving way to Kent Tekulve, who finished the game and gained his 22nd save. [The Sporting News]
