With rookie Lance Parrish driving in six runs on a grand slam homer and triple, the Tigers posted a 9-6 victory over the Twins. Parrish blasted his first career grand slam off reliever Johnny Sutton in the seventh inning and tripled off starter Geoff Zahn for the Tigers' first two runs in the first frame and scored on a sacrifice fly by Aurelio Rodriguez.

Ron LeFlore stole second in the sixth inning, his 26th straight theft without being caught, tying the A.L. record for consecutive steals, set last year by Mitchell Page of the Oakland A's. [The Sporting News]
