The Cardinals continued their belated surge of winning baseball by outslugging the Braves, 11-10, for their 15th victory in the last 20 games. George Hendrick was the Cards' chief gunner, driving in seven runs with a single, double and two homers, one of them a grand slam.

Bob Horner almost matched Hendrick's slugging, accounting for five of the Braves' runs with two homers. Joe Nolan hit a triple with the bases loaded. The Cards, after taking a 10-8 lead, added a run in ninth inning on a double by Mike Phillips and single by Ted Simmons.
