. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Undefeated rookie southpaw Larry McWilliams posted his seventh straight victory as the Braves defeated the Cubs, 6-2. After a two-run homer by Dave Kingman had given the Cubs a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning, the Braves came back in the bottom of the frame.

With two outs, Jerry Royster walked, went to third on a single by Bob Beall and scored on a single by Gary Matthews. A single by Jeff Burroughs moved Beall to third and Bob Horner then ripped an RBI single off pitcher Ray Burris' glove. The Braves picked up three more in the fifth, aided by two wild pitches by Burris and a two-run double by Beall off Willie Hernandez. [The Sporting News]
