. . . where the 1970s live forever!
The Red Sox won the opening game of a twi-night doubleheader, 2-1, but lost the second game, 7-6, when the Blue Jays scored two unearned runs in the eighth inning. The first run in the lidlifter came in the fifth on a triple by George Scott and groundout by Butch Hobson. The winning marker came across in the sixth when Garry Hancock drew a two-out walk, Scott singled and Hobson doubled.

After Jim Rice's second homer of the game in the seventh stanza gave the Red Sox a 6-5 lead in the nightcap, the Jays counted their tainted tallies after Rick Cerone reached first base safely on an error by Hobson and advanced to second on a single by Al Woods. After a forceout, a two-out double by Bob Bailor for his fourth hit of the game scored both Woods and Luis Gomez. Rookie Victor Cruz pitched three scoreless innings of relief to get the win.
