A winner for the 17th time this season, Mike Caldwell hurled the Brewers to a 1-0 victory in the first game of a twi-night doubleheader, but the Indians came back to capture the second game, 12-6. The only run of the lidlifter came on a homer by Ben Oglivie in the second inning.

A three-run homer by Andre Thornton started the Indians off to their second-game triumph. The blast came in the first frame and followed a single by Paul Dade and walk to Buddy Bell. A leadoff homer by Ron Pruitt and consecutive doubles by Larvell Blanks and Rick Manning chased Brewer starter Bill Travers in the fourth.
