Pitching his 13th complete game of the season, Rick Waits allowed only five hits as the Indians defeated the Blue Jays, 6-2. The Tribe took a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Jim Norris doubled home Gary Alexander and scored on a single by Ted Cox.

Andre Thornton made it 3-0 with a homer in the third inning. The Indians added two more in the fourth on a triple by Duane Kuiper and groundout by Buddy Bell. Kuiper singled home Horace Speed in the eighth for the Indians' final run. [The Sporting News]
