The slugging of Bill Madlock, who drove in two runs with a pair of homers and two more with a single, paced the Giants to an 8-5 victory over the Braves. Facing Braves' starter Eddie Solomon, Madlock hit the first pitch of the game over the left-center field fence. After two out, Darrell Evans also hit for the circuit, his first ever against his former Atlanta club.

Madlock rapped his two-run single in the fourth and capped his big night with a homer in the seventh. The Braves' scoring included a two-run homer by Joe Nolan. [The Sporting News]
