Homers accounted for all three runs as the Phillies edged the Mets, 2-1, in 10 innings to remain three games ahead of the Pirates in the East division. Greg Luzinski provided the Phillies' first run with a circuit clout off Craig Swan in the second inning.

John Stearns tagged Steve Carlton for a round-tripper to tie the score in the fifth. Dwight Bernard replaced Swan on the mound for the Mets in the 10th and was the loser when Mike Schmidt came up with one out and homered over the right field wall. [The Sporting News]
